Miri has now been out in the world for two whole months! And as her reward, we took her to get shots-- one in each leg (one for each month!). Poor Miri. And we thought we had seen the worst of her cries/screams. But she bounced back quick. She's a tough little lady (and she didn't want to be a baby about it).
The doctor also checked her out. She's now 10lbs5oz, 21.5 inches, and has a "perfectly round head". Yay for Miri!
Just a couple recent photos...

Post about Pumpkin Pickin' (with Pictures!)
This past weekend the three of us took a family trip to a little garden store down the street to get some pumpkins. And, you know, get in the Fall/Halloween spirit and stuff. You can see that Miri was really in the spirit.
Here's some stuff we saw:
Here are the obligatory photos we took when we got home of dogs and babies with pumpkins. It can't get much more adorable than that, folks!
And here's where all our hard work paid off. We found pumpkins with the exact proportions of our heads, so we finished them off with a precise reproduction of our faces. The resemblance is uncanny!
Happy Halloween from the Bashaws!
(Oh, and Happy Birthday to Mom Bashaw and our nephew Desmond (1st Birthday!) tomorrow!!)

Let’s be realistic/Miri’s weigh-in/Family Time (3 entries in one=3 times the fun)
Am I really expected to churn out these entries daily? Weekly? I think you can probably expect to get at least one from me on a monthly basis. I just don't want to get your hopes up. Apparently, taking care of a baby is very time consuming. If you get more than one from me in a month, I'm probably not doing my job, and Miri is probably off sticking her fingers in a socket or watching a PG-13 movie.
Now that we got that out of the way, I wanted to report Miri's height and weight from her last check-up. I'll try to do this regularly...at least until she heads off to college. As of Thursday, 10/14, Miri was 9lbs10oz and 21 inches tall. So she's grown 2lbs and 2 inches since birth! Next time I'll post this right after her appointment, rather than a week-and-a-half later (as she has probably gained another pound and inch by now!).
Finally, I wanted to report that Miri has now officially met all her grandmas, grandpas, uncles, aunts, and cousins. A couple weekends ago, her Uncle Adam, Aunt Rochelle, and Cousin Kaden came down from Minnesota for a visit.
Prior to that, her Grandma and Grandpa Bashaw, as well as her Aunt Robin, Uncle Bobby, and Cousin Desmond all came in to visit from South Carolina and Ohio respectively.
And, prior to that, her Grandma and Grandpa Rymer came down from Wisconsin to meet their new granddaughter.
Miri has had a great time meeting her family, and looks forward to the many more visits-- partly because she thinks they are wonderful people to be around, but mostly because they keep spoiling her with presents!
Well, that concludes this month's entry. I shared photos, I supplied stats, I complained. You can look forward to a lot more of that. To set low expectations, I'll say that you will not see an entry until sometime in November (but I may surprise you. I've been known to do that.).
BOO! (I told you.)

Baby's First Gala Affair
Beautiful ceremony! Beautiful reception! Beautiful venue! Beautiful bride! A groom! This weekend we celebrated the wedding of two of our best friends, Brooke and Jeremy. Mazel tov to them! They are a perfect couple, and I wish them all the best!
I am so glad we were able to make it to share in their big day. When Brooke first asked Allison to be a part of her bridal party, Miri was still just a dream. Not too long after, though, we found out we were expecting. With a due date eight days prior to the wedding! Despite everyone's words of "you're crazy!", Alli said she would not miss standing up in Brooke's wedding for anything. Even a c-section. Ten days prior. Which apparently also was not enough to stop her from doing the Limbo (pics anyone?). What an amazing woman!
Here's the new Bashaw family all dressed up at the wedding, which took place at the Eisner, an advertising and design museum in the Third Ward of downtown Milwaukee. We all had a great time and danced until we got kicked off the dance floor (perhaps it was Miri's version of the Forbidden Dance).

The day of the wedding Miri and I got a lot of bonding time while Allison was off with the girls doing bridesmaid girly stuff. We took a stroll through the historic Third Ward and then decided to hit up downtown Milwaukee (which is Algonquin for "the good land"). Here's Miri being a typical tourist:

We had a great weekend with family and friends. It was very busy running around with a 10-day old (as of Saturday), but it did give us some good multitasking experience-- which will probably come in handy for this whole parenthood thing.

It's a Girl!
Miriam Aislinn was born on September 8th at 9:23 in the morning. She was 7lbs 9.5oz and 19in long. Miri is a beautiful redhead with big, chubby cheeks. Only time will tell, but right now it looks like she has her mommy's (button) nose and her daddy's (squinty) eyes.
Mommy and Daddy are extremely happy right now. A little sleep-deprived. But very, very happy. The last few days have been a whirlwind. Allison has been quite the trooper, and is/will be a wonderful mom. She tells me I'll be a wonderful dad as well (I think the fact that I've already changed a number of poopy diapers helped her come to that conclusion). Right now we're both eager to get home and start being a family.
Gome home day is TODAY!!! YAY! Then we're on our own...

The First Post and The Final Countdown
I guess this has got to be a good first post so I can keep you guys reading. Or I guess I can just share some baby photos in a couple days and I'll have at least 4 people hanging in there to see where this blog goes. (that would be Alli's and my parents in case you're scratching your heads)
Well, let's jump right in, shall we? My main point in starting this blog is to share photos, videos, and stories of the Bashaw Family (and maybe a chocolate cookie recipe and/or my stance on illegal immigration). This, as we are about to accept our first new member since 2007 (reference to Prescott, our dog). Here is our most recent photo of the soon-to-be Bashaw:
Baby Bashaw will most likely be born this Wednesday morning (unless something happens between now and our scheduled appt). Oh, they grow up so fast, don't they? I can't believe our little one was once the size of a poppy seed, and is now about to join us as a big baby (or little baby depending how you're looking at it-- but I was looking at it in comparison to a tiny little poppy seed, like the one on a Chicago-style hot dog roll, which Baby Bashaw was once the size of).
Anyways, Allison and I are super excited to finally get to meet Baby Bashaw. Only about 34-ish hours to go! I probably won't post again until Baby comes, but I'll be sharing plenty of pictures with all our family and friends.
Stay tuned...
