Baby's First Gala Affair

Beautiful ceremony!  Beautiful reception!  Beautiful venue!  Beautiful bride!  A groom!  This weekend we celebrated the wedding of two of our best friends, Brooke and Jeremy.  Mazel tov to them!  They are a perfect couple, and I wish them all the best!

The happy couple!
I am so glad we were able to make it to share in their big day.  When Brooke first asked Allison to be a part of her bridal party, Miri was still just a dream.  Not too long after, though, we found out we were expecting.  With a due date eight days prior to the wedding!  Despite everyone's words of "you're crazy!", Alli said she would not miss standing up in Brooke's wedding for anything.  Even a c-section.  Ten days prior.  Which apparently also was not enough to stop her from doing the Limbo (pics anyone?).  What an amazing woman!

Here's the new Bashaw family all dressed up at the wedding, which took place at the Eisner, an advertising and design museum in the Third Ward of downtown Milwaukee.  We all had a great time and danced until we got kicked off the dance floor (perhaps it was Miri's version of the Forbidden Dance).

The day of the wedding Miri and I got a lot of bonding time while Allison was off with the girls doing bridesmaid girly stuff.  We took a stroll through the historic Third Ward and then decided to hit up downtown Milwaukee (which is Algonquin for "the good land").  Here's Miri being a typical tourist:

The Milwaukee River!

The Ladybug Building!

The Fonz!
We had a great weekend with family and friends. It was very busy running around with a 10-day old (as of Saturday), but it did give us some good multitasking experience-- which will probably come in handy for this whole parenthood thing.

  1. Okay, those pics are awesome. Miri and the Fonz??!! Incredible. :)

And, you are right, Alli is amazing for dancing the night away AND doing the limbo 10 days after having a living person surgically removed from her body. Does that sound like she had some weird Stephen King-esque Siamese twin removed??

  2. With what the Bashaw family has accomplished so far, you are already in graduate school! (Does this make sense?)

What a beautiful family. Love all the pictures... our little Miri is like those little gnomes that travel the globe... You should start her own travel journal!!

Love and hugs from G'pa and me.

  4. Love the pictures! It meant so much to us to have the Bashaw family there! Allison, you are an amazing friend to travel after a c-section with a newborn . . . and tear up the dance floor on top of it!
